Six Years After the Revolution

Six years after the Revolution, much has been achieved, much remains to be done. Tunisia has a lot to offer. There is the seaside, the beach consists of very fine white sand; such quality I did not find on the coast of Great Britain, Turkey or even Cuba - it just needs to be kept clean.Tunisia has historic sites, interesting old buildings worth restoring, beautiful flowers etc. Writings on walls previously demanding Ben Ali and Leila " to get lost", were replaced by "fuck police", most are painted over meanwhile. Police  requires more cars. If we don't want an elbow society (or idiocracy) we need to respect each other, or as Noam Chomsky put it: "Let us adore and endure each other." German authorities don't understand why their Tunisian counterparts need 6 months to issue substitute passports, well, this is normal bureaucracy here. There are 2000 German companies in Tunisia employing 55000 people. Many young persons are unemployed, several in spite of their academic education, which is either not useful enough for a professional carreer, or they don't have the "right connections", can not or want not to pay bribes, so  I am told, but perhaps less qualified people are just cheaper. Those who decide to take the illegal route should note that they do a lot of harm to their country, people will curse them and their family (that may or may not be innocent). How can anyone seriouly believe Paradise will be a reward for terrorists, who wants to chare it with mass murderers, why should virgins be punished with their company?   Children must be taught empathy, respect, protection of nature and animals. Some parents need to be educated and made to understand their responsibility for their children. We require no more stone throwing; complaints exist in a travelling report 2000 BC, about "awful stone throwing people living at the North African coast". After every revolution people are disappointed, development takes time, they expected so much more. Tunisia is no longer a police state, poverty still exists. Many lost their job, mainly because a lot of tourists now travel to other countries, hopefully this will change again. Instead of tricks to make extra money, why not learn from Cuba. Due to the Embargo imposed by the USA governments, it became impossible to get hold of many spare parts and materials. As a result of this Cuban people became amazingly creative & they kept their charm and big smile. They invested in free education and medical aid for everybody & aided many countries in Africa and South America. Whenever I encounter persons saying life was so much better when Ben Ali was still in power, I wonder are they just uneducated, or did they have their personal advantages, perhaps working for the secret service, selling information? Which developments took place during the 23 years of Ben Ali's regime?  220 firms belonged to him, he robbed Tunisia together with his cleptocratic wife and in-laws. He created hell for 10 000s, those who were tortured, murdered, their families. The public hearing, also reccorded on various Tunisian TV channels, uncovers artrocities under Ben Ali's regime, thanks to the Committee "Truth and Dignity" much is brought to light now. In spite of their traumatic experience, flash backs and nightmares, attending and speaking about their sufferings, all those who do this in the public hearing, deserve our highest respect and admiration. Much has been achieved already. Don't give up, Tunisia can be a great country and deserves to be. Let us work together for this aim.
