Postcript Trying to Understand

"  Churchill.   "Hell is other people."  Jean Paul Satre.                                     Finding yet again 4 rather young kittens in front of my house, this time among my cactus plants, upsets me. Will this never stop? Their chances to survive are next to nothing, even inside my house, however hard I may try. Well, one shouldn't judge too quickly. To my surprise one of my regular visitors to my Cats' Table turns up to feed the cute little ones with mummy milk. This means their mother brought them there when approx. 21 days old. I haven't got a clue where she kept them before. But the main thing is that the kittens are well cared for. I supplement their milk with a bit of finely chopped cats' salami, and forgive them damaging my young yucca plants. It is after all something one has to live with when having cats and plants. Sweet Jane's kittens are now 7 weeks old. She's a dedicated mum to her 4 little ones and the adopted Siamese (same age, the lucky one), but this morning Jane worried me. She lost a lot of weight lately and now didn't eate, didn't move. The poor darling just seemed to be exhausted, overwhelmed. I tried a bit of soft cheese which she accepted, thank heaven, and later on milk mixed with mineral water. Toniplus, multivitamines for cats and dogs she liked less, like all do. Slowly my little treasure recovered. Happy to see this. There are 15,9 million cats living in Germany and on average 50-80 Euros are spend in a month per feral. But the real paradise for cats you can find in Turkey, due to their exellent animal protection laws. Some seagulls learned the cats' miau sound near cats' feeding stations. Impressed tourists and other folks thus are tempted to let them have a bit of food. - Multi-tasking isn't easy. Several shop employees try it as most customers appear to be constantly in a hurry (even while actually unemployed). Frankly I don't find this very amusing, e. g. needing copies before sending off papers. Later on I discovered that not all of the few pages were actually copied as requested. Well, the lady behind the counter tried to serve all customers simultaneously...... Like Karl Marx already established:  "Trust is good, control is better." We live and learn.  - Mr. Trump, the world's great dealer, presumably wanted to demonstrate that no job would be too demanding for him, appeared on a photo dressed like a pope. Comments from some Americans: Good idea, this would mean celibate for Trump and him leaving US for taking HQ in Rome ...... Meanwhile 52,862 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza (numbers raising daily). US offers asylum to 50 while farmers from South Africa and the American president speaks of  "genocide committed against white  farmers" . US offered a million dollar deal to Uganda for taking in migrants from US, simular to the agreement in 2022 with UK, but stopped by the new government. In US the writing "Black lives matter" has been removed. Israel wants the ICC International Warrant against Netanyahu to be withdrawn. "Brave new world. " (George Orwell). Mr. Trump managed to get Google to change the name of Golf of Mexico to American Golf and he intends to likewise change the name Persian Golf to Arabic Golf. The Mexican president now sues Google. Maybe we wake up one morning to find United States of America is called "Trumpland"? Experts worked out that imposed import taxes will largely effect Christmas toys in US, mainly bought from China. Donald Trump sees it that way: So what, not a problem. Just 2 dolls instead of 30!  - Netanyahu declared that destroying Hamas is more important than freeing hostages.  Most certainly not what the concerned families want to hear. Israelians say Netanyahu fights for his interests, not those of the country.  At the Cannes film festival nearly 380 artists denounced the "on-going genocide in Gaza".  The US senator, Bernie Sanders, stated that the effects of Israel's war on Gaza will be a permanent stain on world's conscience. We live in an age of double standards and selective empathy. Experts say we can learn empathy but we can also loose this ability. An Israelian reservist said that he is not willing to blow up civilian houses, such an action he considers a war crime: "We became the monsters we wanted to fight against." (Documentary on France 24). Bernie Sanders advised : "This war has been conducted almost entirely with US weapons, 18 billion US taxpayers dollars." The great humanitaire, Nazi concentration camps survivor, (the only one of her family) Margot Friedlaender, sadly passed away in Germany on 09th May 2025, aged 103.  As a contemporary witness, in spite of her high age, she never stopped to give lectures, and offer discussions, (for the last time 2 days before she passed away) in particular for young folks, about the atrocities and dangers of Nazis and Facists. In spite of the horrors she had suffered, the great lady

didn't preach hate but love, her demand: remain human. Neither race nor religion are important, after all, we are all human beings.
