Environnement Protection

" A fish that never entered a cooking pot will not know that water can still betray it." Ubuntu African Proverbs  - "Be aware of false knowledge, it is more dangerous than ignorance." George Bernhard Shaw.                              Tunisians love their cars and motorcycles, the sound of the running engine is like music in their ears. The black cloud stands for power and freedom, young men proudly ride their motorcycles with pretty girls sitting in the back. The hot weather makes it difficult to wear protection clothes, some "real men" you can even see topless, hopefully their skin is thick enough in case of an accident.  As I mentioned before, in the neighborhood a boy approx. 10-12 years old, frequently rides a motorcycle just for fun, he now also lets his play comrades do the same. Meanwhile getting bored with only driving at high speed, he started to perform artistic acts with one wheel in the air. The other day he nearly hit a parked vehicle. I am under the impression that the awareness of the need to rethink and start here also environmental protection hasn't reached many yet, not even the generation that would eventually be effected most by pollution. While parking for a few minutes or longer, perhaps to do a bit of shopping, having a good chat, or waiting for a passenger, it is normal local standard to have the engine run idle. Unfortunately often underneath our window or close by. In addition most taxis stop for unknown reasons in front of our house, then after finally the purse has been found, money exchanged between driver and passenger, folks of all ages, sometimes whole families, march off in all directions..... I wonder whether these people are frightened the taxi driver may be tempted to break into their house, if he sees where exactly they are living. (Do they silently recommend to choose my house instead?) Why do I worry? Well, my husband and I feel the result, the concentration of exhaust gas and fine dust pollution makes our eyes burn, cough and gives us a sore throat. According to scientists exhaust gas emissions of vehicles, running engines, heating, building activities (we have plenty of these), Sahara dust, all lead to fine dust pollution. The effects of air pollution shouldn't be taken lightly, it reduces the life expectances, causes the death of 7 Million people around the world every year. Further, fine dust pollution can lead to cancer, heart attack, stroke, allergy, effects the lungs, vessels, may be a cause for Alzheimer and Demenz. Where the concentration of fine dust pollution is high, more persons die of Corona. By the way, lots of noise pollutes the air as well and is quite harmful

Animals teach their kids as well by the look of it.

to health. When I ask to switch off the idle engine, some think I am stupid but nevertheless most folks do so or decide to drive off. Kids in the neighborhood meanwhile know we are sensitive to high levels of noise, not that they are exactly silent now...... I guess noone else ever told them to stop yelling at ear-splitting level and some folks are already fairly deaf.
